About Jana
What is Created by Jana?
An array of dramatic and comedic theatre scripts written specifically to introduce , endear, and connect people to God - the Almighty One, Yahweh, Lord of Lords, King of Kings. The focus here is on the relationship between God and His creation, humanity.
The Bible is the foundation of Jana's work, however, these are not "Bible bashing" material. These are pieces where humanity is revealed in ways that the audience can identify with and will touch the hearts of those who need to hear the message of God's love and presence in a non-judgmental way. The scripts are simple, thought-provoking, full of energy and very seeker-friendly.
Churches, actors, directors, and individuals will delight in reading and working with her pieces. They are written and formatted as vignettes (short scripts consisting of scenes and monolgues) with a topic and scripture to start, and a pause for reflection at the end of each piece.
Bringing the Almighty One and His creations (humankind) together, in script form, is the subject of Jana's book, "And God Created Human : A Collection of Scenes and Monologues" (available in stores and online...click here).
Her collection of individual scripts (available in her Shop) are growing as she continues to write new material.
Her hopes & thoughts:
She hopes this website, and her writings, will be frequented by believers and non-believers. She points out, "There shouldn't be any separation between the two. No matter what our beliefs, we still have to live with one another on this earth and should respect each other's opinions and space." She understands that many have been burned by "religion". She wants to share, through creative endeavors, her enthusiasm for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit because she thinks they are "exquisite beyond comprehension". She is quick to voice that she bases her love for God on the relationship she has with Him.
In the beginning, she wasn't one to say 'relationship' and 'God' in the same breath. She didn't know the two could coexist. Eventually she learned that not only can they exist in the same breath, they are actually one and the same. She says, "God is not a loner, faraway, tending to His own business, leaving us to fend for ourselves, whilst we chant sayings to stay in His good graces. On the contrary, He created us for community - with Him and each other. He is our loving Father and we are His children. We can liken it to our relationships here in this world, except that with Him we are in communion with the One who loves us in the most purest, most selfless way. He is the only One we can truly trust with our very existence."
Jana started acting in her teens, however, writing didn't come until some time later when a friend offered her a slot on her show and Jana needed to keep her creative juices flowing as an artist. Hence, writing provided this opportunity. She soon realized writing about humanity brought out a lot of quirky dialogue that many of her friends could relate to, often inquiring if she had specifically written with them in mind. She was always amused by this and yet this was never the case. She says, "I feel we are more alike and connected in this world -despite ethnicity, race, gender, tax bracket - than we realize. We go through so many of the same struggles, fears, hurts, and joys. Life is life. We experience similar situations at varying degrees." She feels to accept one another is to start enjoying life at its fullest. Jesus Christ (whom Jana calls "the coolest person to ever walk the face of this earth") says, in Matthew 29:39 of the all-time bestseller 'The Bible', "Love your neighbor as yourself".
To listen to one another with a true desire and an open heart can break down walls that were never meant to be put up. She believes everyone needs to be heard by someone who genuinely cares to listen. This not only allows us to learn about each other, this allows us to learn about ourselves.
